Community Love Jar – September: Guidance From the Blood

September’s theme is Guidance From the Blood, and this month’s Love Jar turns toward the lessons about love, partnership, family, and devotion carried through our ancestral lines. Some of what we know about loving another person was taught directly. Much of it was learned simply by watching the people who came before us. This work is set to strengthen good love, heal old hurts, and help us carry forward the relationship patterns worthy of becoming part of our family legacy.

This working is for those seeking new love, reconciliation, deeper commitment, greater affection, or stronger bonds within an existing relationship. It also supports those who want wisdom in matters of the heart—especially when choosing whom to love, deciding what deserves repair, and recognizing the kind of relationship that can grow into something lasting.

The jar will be built on rose petals for affection, tenderness, and emotional healing. Damiana will be added for attraction and desire, while hibiscus will bring passion and romantic warmth. Lavender will encourage peace and harmony between lovers, rosemary will bring remembrance and clarity, and vanilla will sweeten communication and strengthen familiarity, comfort, and devotion. A touch of magnolia will be included for fidelity, dignity in love, and the strength of bonds meant to endure.

Each petition will be written by hand and dressed with Love Oil before being placed into the jar beneath pink and red candles. Pink will be worked for affection, reconciliation, tenderness, and emotional closeness, while red will strengthen attraction, passion, and romantic attention. Passages from the Song of Solomon will be prayed over the work, and the loving dead of each participant’s family line will be acknowledged—the ancestors who knew companionship, built households, survived difficult seasons together, and understood the work required to keep love alive.

This month’s Love Jar centers on the wisdom of those who loved before us. September’s work calls for relationships with strong roots: affection that is expressed, desire that remains alive, commitment that is tended, and love capable of becoming something worth passing forward.

Suggested Alignment:
Place a glass of fresh water beside the photograph or written name of an ancestor whose relationship, marriage, or capacity for love you admire. Say, “Teach me what you learned about loving well. Help me recognize good love, tend it wisely, and carry forward what was worthy in you.” If you know their love story, spend some time remembering it. If you do not, ask an older relative what they remember.

To be included:
Send your full name, date of birth, and your petition. Include the other person’s full name and date of birth when applicable. Speak plainly about the love you want drawn, reconciled, strengthened, sweetened, or guided. You may also include the name of a deceased ancestor whose example in matters of love you wish to honor during your personal prayer this month.
