The Bayou Mouth Ritual
A Cleansing for Words Swallowed, Spit Out, or Spoken in Anger

There are things that get stuck in your mouth—words never said, names spoken over you in bitterness, gossip that wraps around your name like a curse. Some of it came from others. Some of it came from you. Either way, it doesn’t belong in your body anymore.

The Bayou Mouth Ritual is for cleansing the gateway of your voice. It’s for silencing spirits that linger in the things we say and the things we choke down. Rooted in New Orleans tradition, this ritual draws on the old work of washing the mouth clean—so your name, your truth, and your spirit can move freely again.

🕯 Some of what I do:
Every name will be spoken as I pour Mississippi river-blue water from a silver cup into a basin of lemon, salt, and hyssop. Psalm 141 and old cleansing conjure will be read aloud to seal your voice in protection. I’ll spit tobacco into flame and make offerings in an herb built fire to finish the work.

You’ll receive a ritual to do at home: a simple mouth rinse, a spoken release, and the sacred act of pouring it all out where the crossroads can take it. No special tools. Just your breath and the will to be clean.
